Povzetek

Even though establishing primary sexual identity is considered an important factor in the creation of a psychic structure in early childhood, not enough emphasis is placed on its significance in therapeutic practice. The sexual genders of the therapist and patient affect the therapeutic process, how depends on what stage the process has reached. In my opinion therapists are not sufficiently aware of the effect that sexual identity has on the dynamic and success of the therapeutic process. That is why the extent of their effect should be reconsidered in clinical and scientific circles.
