Abstract

Cocaine is one of the oldest stimulant that directly affects the brain, it has high potential for abuse. There are no medications currently available to treat cocaine addiction specifically. Many behavioral treatments have been found to be effective for cocaine addiction, including both residential and outpatient approaches. I will present a psychotherapeutic treatment for cocaine addiction used in Center for Treatment of Drug Addiction- University Psychiatric Hospital Ljubljana, which is combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis (TA). Therapeutical goals are: motivations for abstinence and relapse prevention.
