People with social phobia experience constant and irrational fear of social situations in which other people could judge, condemn them, and when they think that in the presence of others they will experience humiliation or shame in some way. These individuals feel the fear that people would see their helplessness, fear and physical errors, which would further expose and embarrass them. Because the disorder is one of the most common ones, much research has been carried out, where the exploration of the causes is broad and covers many aspects - from the field of neuroscience to sociology. However, despite extensive research precise causes of the disorder have not yet been set. A growing number of studies reports that environmental factors together with genetic factors play a major role in the occurrence of disorders, and there is also increasing evidence of the importance of family factors and family aggregation in the development of social phobia.
