Abstract

The article presents preliminary research in which we are interested in the effects of the tuning forks in psychotherapy and if the use of tuning forks are suitable intervention in psychotherapy. We were wondering whether the use of tuning forks had impact on increasing awareness of bodily sensations and emotions, and if so, to what extent. We were also interested whether the use of tuning forks was effective as a method of affect regulation. The study involved four participating clients in individual psychotherapy. The findings of the preliminary study are encouraging; they show the pattern that the use of tuning forks leads to greater awareness of the body and emotions and to affect regulation. We are suggesting that the use of tuning forks might be effective intervention within the psychotherapeutic process. We are aware of limitations of the research and are suggesting further research in this area.
