Abstract

One of the peculiarities of the group work lies in the fact that interventions can be given by any of the group members, not only by the therapist. Interventions can be viewed from multiple perspectives due to the complex group situation. Authors propose different classifications of interventions. Some interventions are purported as characteristically group analytic, while others are viewed as common to various group and individual settings. Conductor’s timing, rationale and form of the intervention are influenced by his theoretical adherences, personality, experience, characteristics of group members, treatment setting, group phase, past and present dynamics and contents in a group. When picking up interventions conductor has to bear in mind extremely complex net of relations and psychical levels while constantly monitoring his counter-transference reactions. Interventions are also a subject of empirical research.
